Things To Do In Denver

There are TONS of things to do in Denver, Colorado... In fact, there's so much to do that we'll have a hard time fitting all the Denver staycation ideas into one article!

Whether you live in Denver, or you're planning to be in the mile high city, you'll find that there are things to do in Denver that will fit just about any interest you have.

In addition, there are some great guidebooks that will take you off the beaten path a little bit and get down into the nitty gritty of the things you can do in Denver.

I highly recommend Denver Colorado City Travel Guide (Kindle) because it not only talks about the Denver highlights, but it also talks about places you should avoid.

I also like Food Lovers' Guide to Denver & Boulder because having great food experiences makes for a great staycation...

Beer Lovers

If you're in Denver, or planning on visiting, and you're a beer lover, you have to visit Denver's historic district, called the LoDo District (Lower Downtown Historic District). It's filled with several turn-of-the-century warehouses that are interesting in and of themselves, but doubly so if you love beer because it's now home to over 90 brewpubs, sports bars, restaurants and rooftop cafes.

You're sure to find the right brew for your tastes!

Denver's LoDo

There are lots of other attractions in Denver's LoDo:

• Take a walking tour of LoDo and enjoy all the historic buildings. It's home to one of the largest concentrations of Victorian and turn-of-the-century architecture in the country. They even have a trolley if you prefer.

• If shopping is your thing, you'll find lots of boutiques carrying over 200 fashion lines from all over the world.

• For those who love that Rocky Mountain weather and are looking for outdoor things to do in Denver, you can venture behind Union Station and visit the Platte river and the 40 mile bike path that follows the river.

• Art lovers will enjoy the various galleries in the LoDo, as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Other Things To Do In Denver

• If you have children, you'll want to take them to the Children's Museum, Butterfly Pavilion, Downtown Aquarium, or Elitch Gardens... The only downtown amusement park in the country.

• Take advantage of the over 90 golf courses and have a golfing getaway.

• Visit the Denver Zoo or the Museum of Nature & Science, the fourth largest museum in the country.

• Take a stroll through the Denver Botanical Gardens and enjoy one of the nation's top 10 conservatories.

• Spend the day at the Denver Art Museum, known for its collection of American Indian art and its comprehensive collection of more than 68,000 works from across the world.

• Stand exactly a mile high on the steps of the State Capital and take a tour of the dome and get a view of the mountains you wouldn't believe. It's actually against state law to block the view of the 200 peaks that can be seen from the dome!

• Take in a pro game... Denver is home to seven professional sports teams. Basketball, baseball, football, soccer, lacrosse, hockey, rugby - Denver’s got it all.

• Make it a biking staycation by taking advantage of Denver's 850 miles of paved off-road trails that connect to hundreds of miles of dirt trails and mountain bike routes.
