Popular Staycation Ideas
Go On A Picnic - Pack a basket and head for your favorite local park, national park, or even a great monument for a fun and relaxation afternoon. If you're going with a family, throw some kites in the car for additional family fun. You can even choose a more secluded location for a romantic getaway with the one your love.
Go Tubing - In the warmer months, there's nothing more relaxing than tubing down a calm river. In the winter, those same tubes make for an exciting day tubing down a snow covered hill... especially when the day ends in hot cocoa!
Movie or T.V. Night - Invite some friends over, break out the fondue pot, and enjoy a favorite movie or television in great company. Our family likes to pick a movie series and spend the whole weekend zoning out in front of the television... our favorites: Harry Potter Weekend, Star Wars Weekend, and Indiana Jones Day. It's a great way to relax on a cold winter weekend when you really can't go anywhere!
Visit An Attraction - Whether it's the zoo, museum, planetarium, waterpark, or an amusement park, most of us are within striking distance of some great places to spend the day, a weekend, or even longer. If you plan your staycation during the week, rather than weekend, you find a lot less congestion and a more pleasant trip.
Bed and Breakfast - If you're looking for something more on the relaxing or romantic side, a B & B is an ideal way to spend your staycation. Book one in your own local area and you can see your town is a whole different light.
Spa Day At Home - Gather together your favorite spa products, invite some friends, and turn your home into a spa. You'll feel refreshed and save money at the same time.
Fishing, Camping, or Hiking - For those who love the great outdoors, there is no better staycation idea than planning a fishing trip, going camping, or even doing a day hike. If you don't want to venture into the woods, you can just campout in the backyard with the kids
Pool Party - Whether you plan a family pool party or throw one with friends, you'll have a great time. Plus there's not lots of preparation you'll have to do... just throw some burgers on the grill, put some cold drinks in a cooler, and relax in the pool all day long.
