A bowling staycation is an ideal getaway for people who are just looking for a day's entertainment or a family interested in a fun day of togetherness. With a lot of us struggling to make ends meet a bowling staycation also makes good financial sense.

Although bowling fees, shoe rental, etc. can vary wildly from place to place, you can generally bowl for a few bucks per person per game, and many time children can bowl for free... especially if they're young. My local bowling ally, for example, offers games for $2.95 at off peak times and $4.95 for Friday and Saturday night.

A really fun bowling staycation idea is to plan your bowling trip to coincide with special events at your local bowling ally. Here are some examples:

It's my little secret, but I usually go play a couple of games before I go bowling with my husband so that I can beat him... I guess I'm very competitive.
