Hi, I’m Chris Yates… AKA “Arvada”
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and check me out!
I’m just your average, everyday person who happens to also run a successful home based business. For me, having a business where I get to do exactly what I want, when I want, and how I want is the only way to go. I’ve tried a lot of different jobs, and none of them ever added up to the adventure that I’ve had being my own boss.
If you happened to see one of my videos where I said that I actually lived in my car for a short time, I bet you're wondering if that's actually true.
Well, it's kind of embarrassing, but it is a true story. I had to live in my car for about two weeks... it was cold and scary and I don't ever want to do that again!
Not long after that is when I joined the Air Force and ended up in theater during the First Gulf War.
Talk about adventure! Check out one of the only pictures I have of myself below. That's me inside the red circle sitting on a captured Iraqi tank.
Looking back, I really enjoyed "seeing the world" on Uncle Sam. Unfortunately, I hurt my back during Desert Storm and my military career was cut short. My real career search began as a disabled veteran.
Disabled Veteran Turns Entrepreneur
After my military career was cut short, I tried my hand at a lot of different things including:
- Selling Real Estate
- Buying and Selling Promissory Notes
- Bartending
- Working in Retail
Eventually I went to college to pursue a BS degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude, but I still had no idea what I wanted to do.
So I started piddling around with the internet and built my first internet business website in 1996.
It was a complete flop!
That first business isn't around anymore, but it did set me on a path to learning everything that I could about internet business and online marketing... And I've never looked back!
In 1997 I got back online, armed with all the knowledge I had gained, and started a career as a home business owner and entrepreneur. It's hard to believe that I've been at this for nearly 13 years!
And I still find it just as exciting and rewarding as I did at the beginning.
Today I'm developing my own line of internet marketing and online business products, coaching, consulting, helping businesses improve their websites, and even have a few seminars in the works for the coming year.
Where Does "Arvada" Come In?
You may be wondering why I've decided to use the pen name "Arvada" in all my articles and content. I wish I had a really interesting story about how it's some really cool nickname that I earned doing some kind of daring deed, but I don't.
It's actually pretty boring.
You see, I've been writing articles and website content since 1997 -- most of it under my own name "Chris Yates." You'd think that I'd be easy to find after putting thousands and thousands of words out there, but if you do a search for "Chris Yates" in Google, you won't find me... until about 100 pages in.
Why?
Because there are a couple other "Chris Yates" out there who have been more popular and more prolific than me. Those imposters have gotten top billing in the search engines... darn it!
So, I decided to re-invent myself and my online personna. After an extensive search I've come up with the name "Arvada Yates." No one else online has this name and it actually means something to me personally... which I'll just keep to myself for the time being.
Ultimately, this name change comes down to good marketing and the attempt to actually brand myself within the online business and marketing world.
Why have I decided to tell you all this?
Because you can't expect anyone to trust you, your recommendations, or your advice if you aren't honest with them.
